Description: Sarracenia purpurea ssp venosa is cold hardy to zero degrees in the ground. Its attractive leaf collects rainwater to drown bugs for fertilizer! Plump up your garden with these fantastic seed-grown plants.
If you are considering experimenting with growing any of the members of the genus Sarracenia as a houseplant, Sarracenia purpurea is a good choice. It can survive in the low-light conditions of a very very very sunny windowsill. Unlike its large-growing cousin Sarracenia flava, the compact habit of Sarracenia purpurea lends itself to indoor growing. Please be aware that it is a perennial and will always be more healthy planted in ideal growing conditions rather than indoors.
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss and perlite in a very large planter and keep it wet. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
All plants will ship bare root, without pots and soil.
